Integration

How the AgnosticGateway plugin connects.

This is a developer-implemented checkout plugin, not a self-serve API you wire up alone. Our team self-hosts and configures it to your Shopify store and routes orders to the processor you already use. Here's exactly how it works and what we need from you.

How install works

No DIY install. A developer on our side builds and configures the plugin with you.

  • Tell us about your storeSend your Shopify store URL and whether you want orders pre-authorized or captured.
  • Request your VAR/TIDAsk your current processor for a VAR sheet (TID) so we can set up your gateway account to route to your existing merchant account.
  • We build & connectA developer configures the self-hosted plugin, styles the checkout to match your store's theme, and connects the gateway to your processor.
  • Test, then go liveWe validate a test order, confirm it records in Shopify, then switch the store to live.

Why the Shopify fee is bypassed

When a high-risk merchant isn't eligible for Shop Pay, Shopify permits external processing. Most external-gateway setups are configured directly inside Shopify's payment settings — which is what triggers Shopify's added per-transaction fee (up to 2% depending on plan).

The AgnosticGateway plugin is self-hosted and configured outside Shopify's payment settings. Because of that, the Shopify external-gateway fee is bypassed. Orders are recorded in Shopify as a payment, while the actual authorization runs through the gateway to your processor.

Condition: the fee bypass holds when the plugin is used as designed and no other card processing is enabled on the store. Any fees tied to your own Shopify plan or configuration are between you and Shopify.

Good to know: customers sign in to a Shopify account (or create one) to complete checkout, so there is no guest checkout. The plugin handles standard card payments only — Shopify Apps are not supported.

How orders appear

Every order is recorded inside your Shopify portal as a payment, and also appears in your gateway dashboard. Your operations, fulfillment, and reporting keep running in Shopify the way your team already works — the plugin handles the authorization in the background and routes it to your processor.

What we need from you

To kick off an integration, send these and we'll assign a developer.
